IPL Intense Pulsed Light Treatments in Oviedo, FL — 40 Esthetics

40 Esthetics offers IPL Intense Pulsed Light treatments in Oviedo, FL, serving Winter Springs, Winter Park, Casselberry, Longwood, Lake Mary, and the greater Orlando area.

What is IPL? IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. It is a non-invasive skin treatment that delivers multiple wavelengths of broad-spectrum light to target melanin and hemoglobin in the skin simultaneously. IPL fades pigmentation, calms redness, and stimulates collagen production without breaking the surface of the skin and with zero downtime.

What does IPL treat? IPL treatments at 40 Esthetics treat sun damage and dark spots, hyperpigmentation and age spots, melasma and uneven skin tone, redness and rosacea, broken capillaries and vascular lesions, active acne and acne scars, dull and aging skin, fine lines, and overall photo rejuvenation. Commonly treated areas include the face, hands, neck, chest, arms, and back.

Is IPL the same as laser? No. Lasers use a single focused wavelength for precise targeting. IPL uses a broad spectrum of light that treats multiple concerns in one pass. IPL is generally gentler, has zero downtime, and is more versatile for treating pigmentation, redness, and overall skin tone at the same time.

Does IPL hurt? Most clients describe IPL as a mild snap or flick of warmth, similar to a light rubber band snap. It is generally very well tolerated. Sensitive areas like the nose and upper lip may feel slightly more intense but sessions are brief.

What is the downtime after IPL? IPL has virtually zero downtime. Clients can return to normal activities immediately. Pigmented areas will temporarily darken and may look like coffee grounds on the skin before naturally flaking off over 7 to 10 days. This is a normal and positive sign that the treatment is working.

How many IPL sessions are needed? Most clients see noticeable improvement after their first session. For optimal results 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart are typically recommended. Sun damage and pigmentation often respond faster than rosacea or vascular issues.

Is IPL safe for all skin tones? IPL works best on lighter skin tones, Fitzpatrick types I through III. For deeper skin tones types IV through VI there is a higher risk of hyperpigmentation. A full skin assessment is performed at the free consultation and the safest treatment option is always recommended.

How long do IPL results last? IPL results are long-lasting but not permanent. Sun damage and pigmentation can return with continued sun exposure so daily SPF is essential. Most clients schedule annual or bi-annual maintenance sessions.
